What is Foam Suppression Systems?

Foam fire suppression systems are an option for fire protection in some areas where water is not an option as clean agent. The foam used for fire suppression has three components. Foam concentrate, water, and air combine together to create foam. When the suppression system is triggered, it releases a blanket of foam. Fires are extinguished by a combination of cooling and smothering of the flames. The foam also traps flammable vapors that could possibly ignite.

FIFFCO GLOBAL has provided a complete range of UL Listed & Non Listed Foam Suppression Systems & it's Equipment’s all over the world.

The main equipment of Foam Suppression System are as below.

FOAM CONCENTRATES

Foam concentrate is the liquid which, when mixed with water in the appropriate concentration forms a foam solution.

FOAM BLADDER TANK

Bladder Tank is designed to inject foam concentrate into the water supply of a fire protection system.

FIRE MONITORS

Fire monitors are designed to accommodate foam which has been injected in the upstream piping.

FOAM GENERATOR

INLINE FOAM INDUCTOR

Inline Foam Inductor is to induct the foam liquid concentrate in water stream to supply proportioned solution of the liquid concentrate and water, to the foam producing equipment.

AIR FOAM WATER SPRINKLER

A foam water sprinkler is an air-aspirating discharge outlet used in the deluge foam system to protect the risk where foam is required to be applied from overhead sprinklers.

AIR FOAM NOZZLE

will be adding soon

AIR FOAM CHAMBER

FOAM CHAMBER a discharge device is designed to apply an expanded foam blanket over the surface of a flammable liquid fire as gently as possible to achieve extinguishment and/or vapor suppression.

FOAM EDUCTOR

In line Foam, Eductors have a metering head with an easy-read knob for 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, and 6%.

RATIO CONTROLLER

Ratio Controller is used to produce constant preset foam solution in pressure proportioning systems.

FOAM BRANCH PIPE

Hand line foam branch pipe is a hand-held nozzle used in all types of low-expansion foam systems.

HYD. CONCENTRATE VALVE

Foam concentrate control valve is automatically opened at a minimum of 3 Kg. ( 42.8psi ) water pressure and there is a water flow

When dealing with high-risk Class B fire hazards—such as flammable liquids, solvents, and hydrocarbons—standard water sprinklers often fall short. That is where a robust Foam Suppression System becomes critical. At FIFFCO GLOBAL LTD, we engineer world-class foam fire safety solutions designed to smother fires instantly, cool surfaces, and prevent re-ignition.

Whether you require a globally certified solution for a petrochemical plant or a standard compliant system for industrial warehousing, FIFFCO delivers. We offer two distinct product lines: our Standard Line for cost-effective compliance and our Certified Line (UL Listed, FM Approved) for projects requiring top-tier regulatory adherence.

Technical Excellence & Certified Reliability

A Foam Suppression System is only as reliable as its components. FIFFCO products are manufactured to exceed rigorous international standards, including NFPA compliance. We understand that MEP engineers and safety consultants need equipment that performs under pressure—literally and figuratively.

Why Choose FIFFCO Foam Equipment?

  • Global Certifications: Our certified range boasts UL Listed, FM Approved, KITEMARK, LPCB, VDS, and CE certifications, ensuring acceptance by global insurance bodies.
  • Extreme Temperature Resilience: Our equipment is engineered to operate flawlessly across a wide operating temperature range, suitable for freezing arctic conditions or scorching desert environments.
  • Durability: Constructed from corrosion-resistant materials (Stainless Steel, Bronze, coated Carbon Steel) to handle harsh chemical environments.
  • Warranty: We back our engineering with a comprehensive 5-Year Warranty.

Comprehensive Product Range: From Storage to Discharge

Our category covers the complete ecosystem of foam fire fighting equipment. To optimize your Foam Suppression System, we integrate the following essential components:

1. Foam Agents and Storage

The heart of the system starts with high-quality Foam Concentrates. We offer AFFF, AR-AFFF, and Fluoroprotein foams that rapidly film over fuel surfaces. These concentrates are stored in a robust Foam Bladder Tank. This tank utilizes a heavy-duty internal bladder to separate the foam concentrate from the water supply, ensuring the longevity of the agent and instant readiness.

2. Proportioning and Mixing Equipment

Accuracy is vital. If the foam-to-water ratio is off, the fire won’t be suppressed. Our systems utilize a precise Ratio Controller and Inline Foam Inductor to mix the concentrate with water at the exact required percentage (usually 1%, 3%, or 6%).

  • For portable or specific zonal applications, we offer the Foam Eductor, which uses the Venturi principle to draw concentrate into the water stream.
  • To manage flow control effectively, our Hyd. Concentrate Valve ensures that foam is only released when the system is activated, preventing waste and ensuring system pressure is maintained.

3. Discharge and Expansion Devices

Once the foam solution is mixed, it must be applied effectively. FIFFCO offers a variety of discharge devices tailored to your specific hazard:

  • High-Volume Protection: For large open areas like helipads or tank farms, our Fire Monitors deliver massive throw range and flow capacity.
  • Fixed Systems: Inside hangars or loading bays, the Air Foam Water Sprinkler and Air Foam Nozzle distribute an even blanket of foam over a wide area.
  • Tank Protection: For flammable liquid storage tanks, the Air Foam Chamber is installed directly onto the tank wall, gently pouring expanded foam onto the liquid surface to extinguish rim seal fires.
  • Manual Application: For firefighting teams, the Foam Branch Pipe allows for mobile, directed application of finished foam.
  • High-Expansion Needs: When you need to flood a confined space (like a basement or generator room) quickly, the Foam Generator creates high-expansion foam to fill the volume and suffocate the fire 3-dimensionally.

Applications & Industries

FIFFCO’s Foam Suppression System solutions are trusted by procurement officers and safety engineers across high-hazard sectors:

  • Oil & Gas: Refineries, tank farms, and offshore platforms.
  • Aviation: Aircraft hangars and helipads.
  • Industrial: Chemical processing plants and paint storage warehouses.
  • Marine: Engine rooms and cargo decks.
  • Power Generation: Fuel storage and transformer protection.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is a Foam Suppression System and how does it work?
A: A Foam Suppression System is a fire protection technology used primarily for Class B (flammable liquid) fires. It mixes water with Foam Concentrates to create a blanket that separates the fuel from oxygen, cools the fuel surface, and suppresses vapors to prevent re-ignition.

Q: What is the difference between FIFFCO’s Standard and UL/FM Listed lines?
A: Both lines are manufactured to strict internal quality standards and NFPA guidelines. However, the UL Listed / FM Approved line has undergone third-party testing and certification by Underwriters Laboratories and Factory Mutual. This is often required for high-risk insurance policies and government projects.

Q: How does a Foam Bladder Tank function?
A: A Foam Bladder Tank contains a flexible rubber bladder filled with foam concentrate. Water pressure creates force around the outside of the bladder, squeezing the concentrate out into the system through a Ratio Controller. This method requires no external pump, making it highly reliable.

Q: When should I use a Foam Generator versus an Air Foam Nozzle?
A: Use a Foam Generator when you need High-Expansion foam to fill a large 3D volume (like a warehouse or tunnel). Use an Air Foam Nozzle or Air Foam Water Sprinkler for Low-Expansion foam needed to coat a 2D surface (like a fuel spill on a floor).
